Study on a Multi-Purpose Antenna for En-Route Surveillance

To date, SSRs*1 have mainly been used for en-route surveillance. Recently, implementation of WAM*2 and plans to introduce ADS -B*3 have commenced to improve the en-route surveillance performance. Integrating the output of these sensors allows the advantages of each to be incorporated into the system.

With the further advancement of such multi-sensor surveillance system in mind, this research is working on a multi-purpose antenna. Employing electric scanning is expected to help ensure the multi-purpose antenna will meet the various transmission and reception requirements. It will also cooperate with other receiving stations to provide various surveillance functions, hence improved efficiency and performance are expected.
