Study on Technical Performance Requirements for Surveillance Systems
Surveillance is the function of providing air traffic information in an operating airspace to air traffic controllers and pilots to improve their situational awareness. SSR, Secondary Surveillance Radar, is employed for this purpose. Future surveillance systems must support new operational methods for airspaces and with reduced initial and operational costs. The aims of this study are to develop the technical performance requirements for surveillance systems that can support conventional and new airspace operation methods, and to implement a measurement method for very low plobability numbers such as the integrity of surveillance information.
