Study on digital communication network for air traffic control
Today, new aircrafts such as the B-787 which offers data link communication are being introduced. The network technology called ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) is used in these aircrafts, whereas the Internet employs IPS (Internet Protocol Suites) technology. IPS is in widespread use and is expected to become a base network for aeronautical communications, as it has the benefits of being economical and rapid innovation. However, ATN and IPS cannot interconnect directly, as their protocols are different. In this research, the ATN is handled on the IPS network, and data link communications between en-route traffic controllers and pilots are simulated.
