Expansions of major airports in response to increasing aviation demand result in complicated airport layout and operations. In order to ensure safe and smooth airport operations in this situation, an essential requirement will be the pro-vision to air traffic controllers of accurate and highly reliable surveillance information. Furthermore, situational awareness by the pilots themselves of surrounding air traffic situation is also considered important.
ENRI is developing technologies, such as Multilateration for advanced airport surface surveillance that include the departure and approach areas, as well as a technology, such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), for information- sharing between air traffic controllers and pilots.
