Study on Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System
    The Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) is expected to increase capacity and safety in relation to specific weather conditions, traffic density and airport layout by making use of modern technologies and a high level of integration of four functions (Surveillance, Routing, Guidance and Control).

A-SMGCS
  • increases the capacity of complex and high-density airports such as Haneda and Narita.
  • enables safe ground maneuvering of aircraft in low visibility conditions(i,e, in Cat III operation).
  • prevents runway incursion and ground conflicts.
  • reduces the ATC controller's workload by improved situational awareness.
