April 1961
The Electronic Navigation Section was organized in the Transport Technology Research
Institute.
April 1963
The Transport Technology Research Institute was divided in two research institutes.
The Electronic Navigation Division was established in the Ship Research Institute.
July 10 , 1967
The Electronic Navigation Research Institute(ENRI) was established with the General
Affairs Division, the Planning Research Office, the Electronic Navigation Division
and the Satellite Navigation Division.
April 1970
The Electronic Navigation Division, and was divided into the Development Division
and the Evaluation Division.
May 1972
The position of Deputy Director-General was established.
May 1976
A Special Account for Airport Development was introduced.
October 1976
The Iwanuma Branch was organized in Iwanuma City.
October 1978
The Aeronautical Facilities Division was established.
January 2001
ENRI, Ministry of Transport was renamed to ENRI, Ministry og Land, Infrastructure
and Transport as Central Government Ministries were reorganized.
April 1 , 2001
Electronic Navigation Research Institute, Independent Administrative Institution
was established. The Planning Office was established in the General Affairs Division.
April 2002
The Aeronautical Facilities Division, the Evaluation Division and the Satellite
Navigation Division were renamed to the Aeronautical Systems Division , The Traffic
Management Systems Division and the Satellite Technology Division, respectively.
Research groups were reorganized from research sections (laboratories).
March 2004
Project Teamsand for Quasi-Zenith Satellite System were organized for Advanced-Surface
Movement Guidance and Control System.
March 2005
A Project Team for Kanto Airspace Redesign was organized. |
April 2006
The office of Director of Research Planning and Management was established.
The Planning Office was abolished and the Planning Division was established.
Four Research Divisions were
reorganized to three Research Departments:ATM,CNS and Airborne Systems. |
January 2007
Project Team for Kanto Airspace Redesign was abolished. |

Project Team for Research on Flight Safety Assistance Technology was organized. |
June 2009
Project Team for Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System was abolished. |
March 2011
Project Team for the High-Accuracy Satellite Positioning System was abolished.
